08 April, 2015

Pioneer Underwriters (‘Pioneer’) announces its new Allied Healthcare underwriting capability, with the appointment of Jim Stewart as Senior Vice President, Allied Healthcare, effective immediately. He will report to Gary Dubois, President of Pioneer’s US underwriting platform, Pioneer Special Risk.

Jim Stewart joins Pioneer Special Risk’s (PSR) Chicago branch and will write US Allied Healthcare Professional and General Liability. Allied Healthcare is regarded as a growing industry, due to an ageing population, technological advances and healthcare reform.

Other previous employers include National Specialty Underwriters, Risk Placement Services, CNA and CIGNA Corp.

Darren Doherty, CEO of Pioneer Underwriters, commented: “I am very pleased to welcome Jim to Pioneer as we launch our Allied Healthcare capability where we have identified huge opportunity. Jim’s wealth of expertise in this sector, combined with his successful track record of building significant books of Allied Healthcare business, will contribute towards Pioneer’s ongoing development as a leading international underwriter.”

Gary Dubois, President of Pioneer Special Risk added: “Jim will be a great addition to our team in the US. He brings with him the established underwriting history and recognized expertize that has formed the foundation for PSR’s growing reputation”.
