Pioneer appoints Nick Greggains as US CEO
Pioneer Underwriters (“Pioneer”) today announces that it has appointed Nick Greggains as CEO of Pioneer’s US operation. Nick Greggains, who takes up his
appointment on 25th March, will be based in New York and will report to Andrew McMellin, Pioneer Group CEO.
Gene Hinman, current US CEO, will become president of Pioneer US until his retirement at the end of 2019.
Greggains brings 30 years of insurance industry experience to Pioneer, predominantly with a US focus. From 2007 he was US chief underwriting officer at
Catlin before the merger with XL, subsequently becoming director of underwriting of XL Catlin Americas and CEO of XL Catlin Canada.
Andrew McMellin, Pioneer CEO, said:
Pioneer has built a successful US operation over the past few years and remains a key strategic focus for us. There are significant opportunities for an
agile, client-centric insurer like Pioneer in that market and Nick has the talent, expertise and market recognition to spearhead our expansion plans.
I would like to thank Gene for his success in establishing Pioneer in the US. He has been an invaluable asset to our business. As president, he will
provide welcome expert advice during the transition.
The US market offers up excellent opportunities for an innovative underwriting organisation like Pioneer which can deliver superior products and services
to match client needs. There is a great team at Pioneer US, I’m delighted to join it and look forward to helping them take the business to the next
