Pioneer launches Operational Power division
Pioneer Underwriters (‘Pioneer’) announces a new operational power underwriting capability. The team consists of Tom Wilson and Stuart Brazier and will
report to Eamon Brown, group director of underwriting.
Writing globally on Lloyd’s paper, the new division will offer flexible insurance solutions to independent power station owners, operators and utilities.
Initially providing up to US$40m in leading insurance capacity, the new division will focus on risk informed underwriting, delivering an enhanced service
and feedback to brokers and clients. They will also offer bespoke products for the biomass and waste to energy industry.
Wilson has over 30 years’ experience in international energy markets and joins from Inter Hannover where, as engineering manager for their global operational
power portfolio, he led the in-house risk evaluation and rating assessment processes. He has also held a wide range of senior positions and executive
directorships in power plant operations management and wholesale energy trading.
Brazier has 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Most recently he headed the global power portfolio at Inter Hannover. He previously held senior
roles at JLT Risk Solutions and Marubeni Corporation, having started his career at Norwich Union.
